How Much Does It Cost?

There was one practical question I had to ask.

Money.

Bringing up money with an AI felt strangely awkward.

I thought about it for a second, then chuckled.

"It's AI. Who cares?"

"Okay, so how much does it actually cost to build a website?"

I was already bracing myself.

Build the site, run a server, buy a domain, handle the design — that had to add up to something.

AI laid out the costs, one by one.

"You'll need to register a domain.

Usually around $20 to $30 a year."

"Okay. What else?"

"You can start with a free server."

"Free?"

"Yes. At your current scale, the free tier is more than enough."

Something felt off.

"What about design?"

"You can use a free template, or build one yourself."

"Coding?"

"I can help with that."

Hang on.

"So how much does all of this come to?"

"At this stage, it's basically just the domain cost."

"How much is that?"

"About $20 to $30 a year."

I stared at the screen for a while.

"...What?"

I'd assumed building a website would cost a small fortune.

And it came out to twenty, thirty bucks?

Years ago, I'd heard about websites costing tens of thousands of dollars to build.

At this price, why not give it a shot?
