Wait, What Even Is "The Web"?

I still didn't know what the web actually was.
I was about to build a website, and I didn't even know what "the web" meant.

I sort of understood the internet.
I watched YouTube every day.
I used Google.
But what was "the web," exactly?
Was the internet the same thing as the web?
Was the "web" in "website" that same web?

I asked AI.

"What is the web?"

I got an explanation. Something about servers, something about browsers, something about HTML...
More words I didn't know.

"Hang on. Give me the simple version."

It explained again.
I got the gist.

The internet was an ocean.
And I was just launching one little boat into it.
